xx Praise and Prayer Requests from September 5
Yesterday at 09:58:12 PM by Larry Thacker Jr.
We were delighted to have several new guests with us this week as well as some others we've been missing.  It sounds as if wee will have quite a few more joining us for Homecoming next week.  Praise the Lord for the work He is doing in our church.

Keep Mike in your thoughts and prayers as he continues with the chemotherapy.  He was hospitalized on Saturday in extreme pain.  He is back home now.  Richard is still not sleeping at night and is now sick with a virus.  According to Pastor David Arvella seemed better when he spoke with her but she and Dede still need our prayer and support as her health fails.

April's mother was recently hospitalized with severe bronchitis and asthma.  April would like for us to pray for her continued breathing difficulties.  April wants us to keep praying for her aunts and the rest of her family.  Sandra will be going for surgery on September 13 and will be in the hospital for a couple of days.  Kay requested prayer for her aunt Laverne who has learned that she has a progressive disease.

We have a lot of needs that are ongoing that we pray for every week.  Sometimes it can be discouraging when we don't see the answers or they aren't the ones we hoped for.  In those times we need to keep our trust in Jesus and keep seeking His will, knowing that He loves us and has a plan for those who love Him.  When you pray, ask how you might be a part of God's answer or a support in someone's time of need.

xx Prayer Requests from August 22
August 23, 2010, 06:38:40 AM by Larry Thacker Jr.
Francis praises the Lord that she was given a new air conditioner.  We rejoice with her.  It's much too hot right now to have inadequate cooling.

Ruth asks that we pray for a friend of her son's, Dianne Cook.  With the onset of Alzheimer's, she has lost the ability to drive and is not getting the help she needs.

Sandy would like for us to pray as she goes to the doctor again this week about venous insufficiency in her legs.  She's asking for healing.  She first asked that we pray for a friend, Rita, that she remain safe as she travels.  Rita has Parkinson's.

Kelley asks that we pray she gets to continue her physical therapy so that she can keep getting stronger and better able to take care of herself.  John wants us to keep praying for his healing and adds that he's having trouble now with a hip.  She wants us to keep praying for her sister and brother-in-law Shelley and Clark.

Dede would like for us to remember the wife, Andrea, and family of her brother who passed away recently as they deal with their grief.  We keep praying for Arvella, who is doing a little better, and for Dede's eyes.  She would also like us to pray for her cousin, Dean, who has lost his sight with the cause not yet known.

Priscilla asks that we keep Pastor David in our prayers because of his eye and hip problems.  I hope that we are all praying for him all of the time.  As does any pastor, he faces greater challenges commensurate with the responsibility he has taken on as our Pastor.  Our enemy would like to take him down, but we will lift him up in prayer.

Kim lost her wallet last week and injured her foot by stepping on glass.  Keep her in your prayers and thank God for what He has already done.

Brenda wants us to pray for her mother who has Alzheimer's.  Brenda prays for peace in her family as she misses seeing her grandchildren.  Don is in agreement with this prayer.

Pastor David later informed us that the air conditioning on the church van is failing.  We pray God sends the right person to get it repaired.  He told us that Mary was not feeling well and that we should keep praying for Jimmy's fiance who is still sick.

One of the things we learned this week was that we can find joy in bearing fruit.  One of the ways we can do that is by praying for others.  It takes our focus off of ourselves and helps us to see ways in which we can bless them.  May you find the joy of fruitfulness this week.

xx Prayer requests from August 15

I lost the flash drive containing my notes this week.  I'm going to write down what i can remember.  Most are things we've been praying about for some time now, so I hope everyone remembers at least the big ones without prompting.  If I misstate anything or you want to add something jump right in.

Keep praying for Mike as he heads into another round of Chemo.  We are praising God that it is working.  Arvella was in the hospital last week with gall stones.  Also pray for Dede as she tries to negotiate transportation to and from the hospital.  I believe Anette is still having some serious problems related to her diabetes.  We did hear that Richard and Kay are doing better and we hope to see them back with us soon.  Pam asks for prayer as she tries to get her financial situation under control and also offered praise to the Lord for getting her through a dangerous situation at an intersection with no working lights.  Linda and I are rejoicing with some good friends of ours, David and Roxanne, as they welcome their new adopted baby girl.  Pray that any details left hanging due to the baby's early arrival will be handled speedily and without complication.  Sandy asks that we pray that her daughter settles into her new living arrangements and finds peace.  Kelley wants us to keep praying for her as she needs to make some wise decisions in the coming weeks.

Remember this week as the Lord continues to teach us how to live a life of joy and gratitude to thank Him for all that He has done for you.  Remember His love as you bring these petitions and trust Him whatever the answer.

xx Prayer Requests From August 8
August 09, 2010, 06:09:15 AM by Larry Thacker Jr.
Chris Hale, a friend of the church, recently broke his arm and hurt his head in a fall.  Pleas pray for a rapid recovery.  Not being able to use his legs makes this a particularly challenging situation.  Remember Chuck Hagel as he goes to the doctor for the eye problem we prayed about last week.  Keep Mary in your prayers that she stays as healthy as possible inside and out and doesn't draw away from us.  We all need to let her know just how much we love her.  Letrice is presumably still in the rehab center.  We haven't heard from her.  Keep praying that they are able to help her regain her mobility.  Kelley passed along a request that we pray with her concerning some important decisions she needs to make soon.  She's still getting rehab as well and has been moved to a different location.  We're saddened that she's now too far away for the bus to be able to pick her up for church and pray we can find a way to get her here.

April thanks everyone for their prayers over the past few months.  She praises God that she has been certified as a support group facilitator and looks forward to being able to help others.  She asks that we keep praying for her mother who has another appointment on Friday.  April asks that we also keep praying for her Aunt Bobbie.  She asks us to pray for another aunt, Lois I think I heard, who was caring for someone who recently passed away.

I did not capture the facts accurately last week regarding Mike's situation.  He has at least one more chemo treatment and possibly more depending on what they find.  However, we are praying for a better result than that and praising God along with him that there has been a fifty percent reduction in what they have been able to identify.  Remember him and his family during this difficult time.  Let him know you love him and expect him to be around for years to come.  He requests that we pray for his sister who is also facing cancer.

Sandy asks prayer for her nephew's wife, Tammy, who is rapidly losing weight with no apparent cause.  She would like for us to pray for a homeless woman who has been emailing her by the name of Julie who needs a place to stay and would like to be in the Dallas area.

Linda would like for us to pray for Dianne, the woman who came to church with us a few weeks ago.  She's coping with a number of challenges, including the loss of sight and the need to find a permanent place to live.

Sarah requests that we pray for her family and particularly for a situation regarding her daughter and an x boyfriend who may be on drugs.  I'm not sure how much detail is appropriate to an on-line forum so I'll let Sarah clarify anything she wants to.

Priscilla reminds us to keep praying for Arvella and Dede.  Arvella is no longer able or possibly not willing to take care of her most basic needs anymore, putting a lot of strain on Dede.  She asks that we continue to remember her father in prayer.  He had another stroke while she was with him over the weekend and is also struggling with the realities of disability.  She also thanks us for keeping Kim in our prayers and reports that she is doing much better.

Remember to thank God for all the prayers already answered and the daily blessings you have from Him.  In that thankfulness bring these concerns before Him.  As you turn your heart toward these who are in need you will find God granting the desires of your heart because it is becoming more like His.
